this human quest for entertainment, for stories, for escape, it's not just old, it's literally ancient. it's fundamental to who we are as a species.
-i studied 125 bollywood films’ finances & here’s the weird truth.

i find myself wanting to ramble about art today. the internet archive recently lost a case, forcing them to delete over 5,00,000 books from their site. no words, just: should art be owned? i have no answer for this, because it does cost very real money to write, paint, sculpt (etc., i could not possibly list all the verbs relating to art, but) create, not to even mention the logistics, but i definitely do not want to get into another capitalism discussion.

the reason i've had many conversations with many people (mostly arjun) about open-source software, and i do enjoy using it (and hopefully contribute one day), even this! zonelets is completely open-source, all contributes to this thought. it is nice to be able to see everything, and decide for myself what i'd like my site to look like, and behave. (which is why i'm really done with instagram and x twitter, everything always converges to 2014 tumblr). even though i definitely do not know enough css/js to manipulate this site much yet, i want to make it prettier/more fun in the future, and i can. (this blog is far from art, but it is an expression, and does have that in common, at least). even if neocities goes down, this is just code, and i can host it from my own server someday! (which is in my five-year plan, anyway)

enrico tartarotti talks about anti-startups (startups that don't explode), with a comment: Isn't this just starting a business the regular way?. youtube took linus tech tips' video on how to circumvent youtube's ads. i realise this is the worst formatted sequence of thoughts i've ever written, but it's a blog, so the onus lies implicitly on you to interpret this.

i don't have a conclusion, but after spending a huge amount of time simply on choosing software that i can respect and modify the ones i can't handle, all i want to say is this: make sure you know what you're doing! every choice is an opportunity :)
