i recently read this article about too many apps, and it resonated. our phones are being overrun
, it says, and it's clear. whenever i float back onto my system launcher after a few months of a different one, my neatly organised folders are washed away in yet another flood of new apps i've had to install. i consider myself someone that would prefer not to, given the choice, but are we?
i glanced at the newspaper yesterday and saw this article: come festivity, apps are the answers to many more prayers
. i've never been too keen on marketing, but it's instances like this that make me move it down the tier list even further; would this sentence be perceived as anything but forceful if not under the blanket of more and more "persuasive" advertising strategies? attempting not to use pop psychology terms, but viewing it through the lens of someone who lives in a world where this isn't commonplace, would you think this is acceptable? this is one of the reasons i love fantasy as a genre, if you're able to delve past the skin of the story, you're able to glance at a defamiliarised version of our own world, looking outwards in. want recs?
i realise i'm off topic within two paragraphs, but i call these rambles, so don't expect anything else. as i think more, and write more, i realise that my movement of ridding myself of doomscrolling needs to extend further, and encompass more. i removed the app page from my launcher, and not remembering what apps you have installed is a blessing. can't waste my time if i don't know where to! i know this sounds disheartening in a way, but i'm glad to keep finding things i need to work on. it might be nice to be perfect, but i know i'm not going to, so it's even better to find ways i can grow :)
